What Are The Standard Sizes Of Exhibition Posters? What Are The Individual Panel Sizes Of Octonorm Stalls?
Exhibition stalls are made from modular Octonorm Panels—flat wooden boards held together with vertical aluminium sections. So, your stall wall isn’t one big flat surface; it’s a series of panels placed side by side with slim aluminium upright pipes/sections in between. This matters when you size your tradeshow display prints.
You don’t design one large artwork to cover the entire wall in your stall. You create individual artworks that fit in the panels that make up your entire stall.
Let’s take a look at the basics first:
Most stalls are in the shape of the letter ‘U’. The stall has walls/panels in the back and on the left and right sides. Visitors will obviously enter from the open front (fourth side).
Also, most standard stalls have 3 panels at the back and 2 panels each on the sides. This translates to the stall being approximately 10 feet wide and 7 feet deep.
The standard size of a single panel in an octonorm stall is 1 metre wide x 8 feet high (approx. 1000 mm x 2440 mm).
Please note: Sizes can vary among different trade fairs and organisers. Always reconfirm your stall specs before you design.
What size should your exhibition poster artwork be?
- Usable width per panel: Because the aluminium sections eat into the visible area, the flat “printable” width is usually 960–970 mm (not the full 1000 mm).
- Moreover, set the height of your design file to 2400 mm. The 8-foot height of the panel equals ~2440 mm, but most stalls have carpet flooring or minor height variations. So a little less than that, i.e. 2400 mm, ensures a neat, flush fit without crumpling at the bottom.
Recommended Artwork Size Per Panel Of An Octonorm Stall:
- Width: 960 mm or 970 mm (as advised by your organiser)
- Height: 2400 mm
Now, let’s take an example of a 3-meter x 2-meter stall:
- Here you will get a back wall of 3 panels (each ~1 m wide), and so you will need 3 posters of 960/970 mm x 2400 mm to cover this back wall
- The wall on the left will have two panels, which means that you will need 2 posters of 960/970 mm x 2400 mm to cover this space
- Similarly, the wall on the right will have two panels, so again, 2 posters of 960/970 mm x 2400 mm to cover this space
- Total posters needed: 7 artworks/designs, each of 960/970 mm x 2400 mm for a 3-meter x 2-meter stall

The suggested sizes are meant to cover each octonorm panel from top to bottom for a seamless, full-wall look. But if you want to optimise your budget, you can definitely go for smaller-sized exhibition posters.

Many people choose to cover only the top half of the 8-foot vertical stall panel, because we tend to register things at eye level. Areas beneath our waistline may be covered by the exhibitors’ reception tables, chairs, and other furniture. In this case, the poster can be 3 feet wide and 4 feet or 6 feet high.
A quick heads-up:
- Smaller prints won’t cover the entire panel. You’ll see some empty space around the poster, and the base panel behind may show through.
- This is perfectly fine for many exhibitors—especially if you want to highlight just a few key visuals or keep the design minimal.
