How Are Exhibitions Posters Different From Regular Posters?

• Exhibition posters are different from our everyday advertising communications. At the very core, they are specially tailored to cater to the requirements of trade fair participants.
  As such, here are the characteristics of exhibition poster prints:
  • Lightweight: Trade show posters have to be extremely lightweight and easy to carry.
  • Advantage of Size: The prints are generally large in size and accommodate a lot of product images and information. Size wise, A0 (3 feet X 4 feet) and upwards is what we generally look at. 
  • Portability: Despite their large size, the posters can be rolled up and packed in a small container. Exhibitors should be able to carry the prints in vehicles and even flights, to distant locations. 
  • Economical: Exhibition posters need to be cost effective. Most prints are created specifically for the event and have no use beyond the same. People traveling abroad would prefer to throw away the prints rather than carry them back home. So, obviously, the price of these prints needs to accommodate their expendable nature. 
  • Photo print quality: Participating in trade fairs is a costly affair and involves huge investments in terms of time and money. The one point agenda of taking part in an exhibition is to sell your product or service to the visitors. Therefore, there can be no compromise in the quality of the visuals that are used to convert prospective buyers. With trade show posters, we are able to achieve just that.

  How Do We Create These Product Display Posters for Exhibitions and Trade Shows?

  While a lot of printers opt for printing paper posters, at Orchid Digitals, we use a special photo poster roll to output exhibition prints. These rolls get printed on our large format eco-solvent and UV inkjet printers. In the print industry, these rolls are referred to as grey back or white back rolls. 

  As the name suggests, the material has a grey or white color liner fused to the back. This liner adds rigidity, thickness, and a nice flat look to the print. 

  On the print side, the material is specially coated to enable very high-resolution printing.

  How Do Trade Show Posters Adapt to the Exhibition Conditions

  Most trade show venues have yellow focus lights mounted in the ceilings. This makes it difficult to read text matter printed on glossy surfaces. Therefore, exhibitors avoid glossy posters and generally opt for prints that have a matte finish. 

  The grey back roll meets this requirement perfectly. Images and text printed on it do not reflect light and are easily readable. 

  The white back roll, on the other hand, adds another dimension to the trade show poster. This roll has a slight sheen on its front surface. This adds a little sparkle print and gives it a very rich and unique look. The resultant sheen or slight ‘chamak‘ (glitter) looks very beautiful under the focus lights mentioned above.

  Further, the trade show poster print is flexible and has a thickness of roughly 200 microns. This means that the poster can be rolled up and carried in vehicles or on flights when traveling to different cities. If required, we can even pack the posters for you in a cardboard container. The container is in the shape of a roll. This ensures that the prints do not get dented, creased, or damaged in transit.

  Poster Presentation and Installation on Site

  Trade fairs have fairly strict policies regarding the use of their stalls. They absolutely forbid any kind of drilling on the walls or panels. To overcome this problem, we put double-sided tape on the back of our prints. These tapes are pretty strong and will hold our posters in place. Moreover, you can gently detach the prints at the end of the event and store them for later use.

  What Are the Sizes of Exhibition Posters

  The sizes of exhibition posters need to accommodate the size constraints of the exhibition stalls. Here are some key considerations:

• Exhibition stalls are generally made up of modular aluminum panels slotted together. Each of these panels is 1 meter (approximately 3.30 feet) wide and eight feet tall.
• Most stalls are in the shape of the letter ‘U’. The stall has walls / panels in the back and on the left and right sides. Visitors will obviously enter from the open front.
• Also, most stalls rented out have 3 panels at the back and 2 panels each, on the sides. This translates to the stall being 10 feet wide and 7 feet deep.

If you are planning for an exhibition display, each of your posters should be 3 feet or 36 inches in width. Remember, each of the stall panels is 1 meter wide, which is slightly larger than 3 feet. 

The height of your poster can go up to 8 feet, if you need to cover the entire panel. 

Many people choose to cover only the top half of the 8 foot vertical stall panel, because we tend to register things at eye – level. Areas beneath our waistline are going to be covered by the exhibitors’ reception tables, chairs, and other furniture. In this case the poster can be 3 feet wide and 4 feet tall.

I Want to Install This Poster in My Office Post the Exhibition – How Do I Do That?

The pricing and form factor of the exhibition poster usually leads to them being discarded after the event. However, some customers do ask for options wherein they can reuse the poster. For example: the customer might want to put product pictures and specifications in his office after displaying the same at the trade event.
