Two lit signs for Dr Aditi Natu’s Panacea dental clinic, Kothrud: a 10 ft multi-material board and a tooth-shaped logo

Two outdoor lit signs for Dr Aditi Natu’s Panacea Multispeciality Dental Care in Kothrud: a 10 ft board that mixes ACP, acrylic letters and five glowing photo windows, and a sign cut in the shape of a tooth. Both were made in our workshop in Pune and installed by our team.

The brief

Dr Natu has been our client for years: we made the acrylic logo board in her clinic’s reception, with an LED glow round its edge, and the printed frosted films on the glass of her cabins. This time she wanted the outside of the building to do the talking: her name, her services and her logo, lit up at night.

What we made

The big board, about 10 ft wide and 4 ft high, is an ACP panel wrapped around an aluminium frame about 1 inch thick and 3 inches deep. Dr Natu chose a special colour of ACP that even our dealer did not stock, so we waited for him to bring it in.

The five arch-shaped windows are cut into the ACP on our CNC router. Each is filled with white 040 acrylic, which lets light through, and covered with a backlit film we UV-printed in-house: root canals, implants, Invisalign, smile designing and the full-mouth X-ray. The UV print is outdoor grade, and the backlit film glows brightly at night.

The name, DR. ADITI NATU, is in white acrylic letters with a thin gold acrylic edge, like piping, about 8 mm thick. Some parts of the board are flat, some raised, some lit and some not: that mix is what makes it stand out. The LEDs sit on a base panel inside the frame and light the letters, the logo and the windows from behind.

The second sign is the clinic’s logo cut in the shape of a tooth, about 3 ft high and 3.5 ft wide. The face is 3 mm white acrylic; the name and the tooth outline are laser-cut from 3 mm mirror gold acrylic and fixed on top. The sides are a black aluminium profile, 0.85 mm thick, and the whole sign is 2.5 inches deep.

The tooth sign is built on an ACP base, not PVC board: PVC can bend in the heat and push the face off, ACP stays flat. About 200 white LED modules inside, laid in rows that follow the tooth, make the face glow evenly. The gold is metallic, so it blocks the light and reads dark against the glow at night.

Both signs are for outdoor use. The tooth sign stands at the building entrance to show that there is a dental clinic inside. The ideas took the longest: about two months of layouts for the big board (the names, the service headings and the photos Dr Natu wanted), and about a month for the tooth sign. Making and installing each took a week to 10 days, all in our workshop and by our own team. The wiring is done in our workshop, so on site the sign only needs a power point. The photos on this page were taken in our office and workshop before the signs went up; photos from the clinic will follow.
