Tele Radio, the Swedish maker of industrial radio remote controls, was bringing the printed keypad overlays for its handheld crane remotes in from abroad. Its India team asked us to make them in Pune. We printed and laser-cut a batch for remotes branded K2 Cranes & Components.

A handheld crane remote needs a printed overlay on its keypad: up and down keys, fast up and fast down, a green START and a red STOP, and five small windows for the status lights. The overlays were being sourced from abroad. Nilesh of Tele Radio India came to us to make them here, from the artwork sent by Tele Radio’s parent company.
Each overlay is a 200-micron polycarbonate sheet, printed from the back on our Mimaki UCJV 300 roll-to-roll UV printer: the colour artwork first, then an opaque white layer behind it. The colours read bright from the front, and the print itself sits safely behind the sheet. A matte lamination on the front face takes the daily rubbing of fingers and gloves.
The five LED windows are cut out on our laser machine, so the status lights of the remote shine straight through.
The back carries a strong 3M double-sided tape. Before it goes on, we laser-cut openings in the tape where the switches sit, in a separate pass from the print, so those spots stay free of glue. Press a key on the front and the switch underneath works; everywhere else the overlay holds very firmly to the remote.
Finally each overlay is laser-cut to the outline of the remote. The material is weatherproof and outdoor grade, and it flexes a little, so the keys can be pressed again and again without the print cracking. The keys are flat: we don’t emboss or dome them.
This was a one-off batch, made in February 2025. A batch like this typically takes 2-3 days once the artwork is approved. We use industrial-grade materials for overlays, and if anything goes wrong with one, we look at it with you. We also print exhibition posters for Tele Radio India, including their Panther and Tiger remote posters.
