Large stainless steel letters with a white PVD finish for the Pune store of Bharat Furnishings, a multi-city furnishings chain. Each letter has a 1 inch steel side skirt hiding the LEDs inside, and stands about 1.5 inches off the wall, so the whole name glows from behind at night.

Mr Paresh Makani, owner of Bharat Furnishings, came to us from Mumbai to brand his Pune store. The old sign had small red letters on a pale glass fascia that hardly caught the eye. The brief was clear: the new letters had to be stainless steel, and they had to glow at night. The spot for the letters was high up on the building and hard to reach.
We fabricated every letter from stainless steel, with a strip of steel welded at right angles to the face as a side skirt, so each letter is about 1 inch deep when seen from the side.
The letters were given a white PVD coating, and a large number of LEDs went inside each one. The side skirt hides them, so you see the glow, not the lights.
A letter fixed flat on the wall would block its own glow, so each one is held about 1.5 inches off the wall on bolts with nuts. That gap makes the letters stand out in 3D by day and lets the LEDs throw a strong glow onto the wall at night.
To reach the spot, our team put up bamboo scaffolding in front of the store, then fixed, wired and powered every letter on site.
Because the board is so large, the job was priced at a lower rate per sq ft than our usual lit letters.
