Why metallic labels
Most sticker sheets and labels are white, and for everyday labelling needs that is perfectly fine. But when you are labelling a premium cosmetics pack, a luxury deodorant or a special gift box, a plain white label can make an exclusive product look ordinary. Your label should carry the same look and feel of luxury as the product inside.
That is exactly what a metallic finish does. A gold or silver label catches the light, draws the eye on a crowded shelf and tells your buyer, at a glance, that this product is something special.
At Orchid Digitals, alongside our regular white sticker and label range, we print metallic stickers in gold and silver finishes on our industrial-grade digital press. The rainbow-hued silver sheet is one of the most striking labels in our whole sticker range. From the front it looks like classic silver, but as you tilt it, it reflects all seven colours of the spectrum, much like the holographic security stickers on electronic devices. Every time the product is picked up or turned, the label catches a new colour.

The finish is printed as part of your label: your colours and text go on top, and the metallic base shows through wherever the design leaves it bare or uses light colours.
Print quality
There are real advantages to having your stickers made by a professional print shop. We print your labels on our Konica Minolta 3080 colour digital press at up to 2400 dpi, in the CMYK colour model, so fine print, QR codes, small fonts and delicate artwork come out crisp and clear.

Digital colour printing gives bright, saturated colour, far sharper than a photocopy, and without the set-up costs of offset or screen printing on short runs.
The gold or silver underneath lifts your artwork. Ornaments on idols and moortis glow with a golden hue on gold sheets; a supercar's body takes on a polished chrome look on silver.
A strong adhesive holds the label firmly in place; once applied, it is very difficult to peel off.
How we produce your labels
We don't print labels one at a time. To keep production efficient and your cost per label low, we arrange copies of your artwork side by side on a large production sheet measuring 12 inches wide by 18 inches high (often called an A3 or A3+ sheet).
For example, if your label measures 2 x 3 inches, six columns and six rows fit on one sheet: 36 labels. After printing, the sheet is cut into individual labels, which are stacked neatly and packed for you.

Straight-cut labels are cut edge to edge with no gap between them, so keep a little bleed inside your design: the cut labels can come out a fraction smaller than the nominal size.
Cutting options
Our standard metallic stickers are square or rectangular with straight 90-degree corners. They are cut into individual labels and stacked one on top of the other before they are handed over to you.
Prefer your labels on a full sheet, ready to peel? Ask for half-cutting. Half-cutting slices only through the top sticker layer and leaves the release paper underneath intact, so you get a full-size sheet of separate labels that peel off quickly and easily, which is handy when you apply labels by hand in large numbers.

The standard metallic-finish sticker suits most dry, indoor applications. If your label will meet moisture or water, for example on refrigerated food products, or will be handled often, choose the laminated variant.
Lamination adds a thin 30-micron plastic film over the printed surface. It greatly extends the life of your label by shielding it from water, dust, scratches and daily wear, and it gives the label a more elegant, finished look.

The holographic look
For a truly eye-catching label, we can coat your metallic sticker sheets with a rainbow-hued lamination film that has a subtle prismatic effect. When light falls on the film from different angles, it shows the seven colours of the rainbow.
The multicoloured sheen of the film, combined with the reflective metallic sticker beneath it, gives your labels a striking holographic look. It works best on silver metallic stickers, and it costs the same as a matte or gloss lamination.

Pricing
Sticker manufacturers like us price stickers by the full sheet, with as many labels on it as will fit. To find the cost of one label, divide the price of the sheet by the number of labels on that sheet.
Say your label is 3 x 3 inches. On a 12 x 18 inch sheet, 12 ÷ 3 gives 4 columns and 18 ÷ 3 gives 6 rows: a 4 x 6 grid of 24 labels. Application
Applying our labels is simple: peel and paste. There is no curing time, so your branded products are ready to use or dispatch as soon as the label is on.

No. We don't do hot-foil stamping or metallic foiling. These are stickers printed on a sticker paper that already has a gold or silver metallic finish.
