Ordinary vinyl has a smooth, even face: perfect for sharp photographic prints. Textured vinyl adds something a smooth print can't: a subtle, tactile surface that gives your image a luxurious look and feel.

Photo or painting?
A print of a painting on plain vinyl looks like a photograph of the painting. The same image on textured vinyl looks like a painting made by hand by an artist: the texture catches the light the way brushwork and canvas do.
That is why we recommend textured vinyl for reproductions of paintings, family portraits and images of deities: pieces meant to be looked at closely, and often touched.
Textured vinyl is not laminated. A lamination film would flatten the surface you are paying for, so the print is left bare to keep the texture tactile. It is made for indoor use.
What it's made of
The textured face of the vinyl takes a high-resolution print, and a strong adhesive on the back makes it a large sticker. We print it at up to 1,440 dpi on our industrial wide-format Mimaki printers; see our printing infrastructure.
Many printers use unbranded or duplicate inks that fade quickly and look dull. We use only genuine, branded Mimaki eco-solvent or UV inks, for vibrant colours that resist fading.
Monomeric vinyl media, about 100 microns thick, with a strong pre-gummed adhesive.

Installation
Installing a textured vinyl print is simple: it is pre-gummed, so you peel it off the release liner and stick it like any other sticker sheet. It needs a smooth surface: a panel, or a wall finished in oil-based or lustre paint (it won't hold on water-based paint). Peeling it off later can damage the paint.

Line the print up on the clean, smooth surface and press it into place.

For large prints, work from the centre outwards with a squeegee to push out air bubbles and wrinkles.

Installers often spray plenty of water on the wall first, place the print and squeegee the water out. This removes air pockets, so the vinyl lies completely flat.

Each piece can be up to 4 ft (48 in) wide, the width of the roll. Larger artworks are printed in 4-ft-wide tiles that are pasted edge to edge. Our minimum order is ₹3,000 + GST: a single 3 x 4 ft portrait (12 sq ft) comes to ₹1,440, so order a larger size or a few more prints to reach the minimum.
