Grey-back vinyl is a self-adhesive vinyl whose back, the adhesive side, is grey instead of white. That grey layer stops light passing through the film, so any print, colour or text beneath it disappears. You can paste your new poster directly over the old one and it looks as clean as a print on a fresh wall.
We print your artwork on it at high resolution and add a protective matt lamination as standard, so it arrives ready to paste.

Standard white self-adhesive vinyl is thin, and light passes through it. Paste it over a dark or busy poster and the old image shows through as a ghost, which ruins the look of the new campaign. That is why old prints normally have to be scraped off first.

Ease of installation doesn't mean a compromise on quality. We print on our industrial wide-format Mimaki printers at up to 1,440 dpi, so product photographs, faces and fine text stay sharp even on a large wall graphic.
We use genuine Mimaki eco-solvent or UV inks, never unbranded or duplicate inks, for vibrant, true-to-life colours that resist fading. Read how the different ink types compare.

We print grey-back vinyl from rolls about 4 ft (1.2 m) wide, and a print can run along the length of the roll. So a poster up to 4 ft on its short side is printed in one piece.

Installation
Applying grey-back vinyl is as simple as pasting a sticker. It is pre-gummed with a strong adhesive: peel off the release liner and paste it on. The video shows the wet method on a glass panel; the steps are the same on a wall or board.

The old print should be firmly stuck, flat, clean and dry, on a smooth surface. Press down or trim any lifting edges first.

Peel the release liner back along the top edge to expose the adhesive.

Position the top edge, stick it down and work downwards, peeling the liner as you go.

Smooth the print from the centre outwards with a squeegee (rubber roller) to push out air bubbles.

For very large prints, spray a light film of water first; the print can be slid into place, then squeegee the water and air out for a flat finish.

Press all edges down firmly and prick any remaining bubble with a pin.
