Why ordinary vinyl fails outdoors
Ask most print vendors for a vinyl print and you get 'presentation-grade' monomeric vinyl. It reproduces images beautifully, but it is made for indoor and sheltered spaces. Put it outdoors and it soon starts peeling, cracking and fading, and your brand looks shabby.
Vinyl comes in three grades: monomeric for air-conditioned interiors, polymeric for outdoor use, and cast for the harshest conditions and vehicle wraps. This page is about the middle grade: weather-proof polymeric vinyl, engineered to stay flat and bonded outdoors at a price well below cast vinyl.
How a weather-proof print is made
An outdoor print lasts only as long as its weakest layer. The video explains the three things every exterior-grade print needs: a vinyl rated for outdoor use, outdoor-rated inks and a matching protective overlaminate.
We print on 3M™ or Wyte™ polymeric vinyl with genuine Mimaki eco-solvent or UV inks (how these inks compare), then seal the print with a polymeric overlaminate of the same grade.
About 100 microns thick, dimensionally stable: it stays flat instead of shrinking and wrinkling in the heat.
A strong acrylate-based glue that doesn't harden over time, so the edges stay bonded instead of lifting.
Tiny channels under the vinyl let trapped air escape, for a smooth, bubble-free paste.

Built for Indian weather
Outdoor prints in India can sit at 40-50°C in the afternoon sun and drop below 10°C at night. Ordinary vinyl can't cope with these swings: it hardens, shrinks and cracks, which is why so many bus and auto-rickshaw ads look worn out within weeks.
Polymeric vinyl is dimensionally stable, so it stays flat and smooth through the heat, the cold and the rain. Both our 3M™ and Wyte™ polymeric films are rated for a service temperature of -20°C to +90°C.

Which vinyl do you need?
Polymeric vinyl is the sweet spot for most outdoor jobs on flat or gently curved surfaces. If your graphic goes indoors, a regular vinyl saves money; if it must wrap round deep curves or rivets, or face extreme conditions, choose cast vinyl.

Polymeric vinyl is priced per square foot, lamination included: ₹150 per sq ft + 18% GST for Wyte™ Stretchcal 32 and ₹240 per sq ft + 18% GST for 3M™ IJ40C. Each side is rounded up to the next whole foot, and the smallest print we make is 4 x 3 ft; smaller designs are billed as 4 x 3 ft. Our minimum order is ₹3,000 + GST. A single 4 x 3 ft print is ₹1,800 + GST in Wyte™ and ₹2,880 + GST in 3M™, so combine several prints, or place several designs on one print, to reach it. Prints come on 4-ft-wide rolls; larger graphics are printed in panels and joined on site.

Installation
The print is pre-gummed, so you peel off the release liner and stick it like any sticker sheet. The air-release channels underneath let trapped air escape, which makes a smooth finish easy. For large prints, the water-pasting method gives a perfectly flat result; the video shows it on a glass panel, and it works the same way on smooth walls, boards and ACP.

Wipe it clean, dry and free of dust, oil and grease.

Peel back the release liner a little at a time and press the print into place from one edge.

Work from the centre outwards to push out air; the air-release channels let it escape.

Spray water on the surface, place the print, then squeegee the water and air out so it lies completely flat.
